This is not an easy one! I certainly am no expert in healthy living but there are SO many blogs out there that are! I will say, after a few health scares and my husband and I struggling with our weight, we decided to work as a family to get healthier!
You have to be intentional when you are working at a goal with your family because it takes hard work, each other’s encouragement and time spent with each other!
If you have wanted to get healthier this is a great time to write down a goal as a family and implement it! If you are already doing this, good for you! Look for at least one area you can improve on because we can never do it all perfect!
Some great ideas would be to:
Start walking as a family – walking is the BEST exercise and you can all do it together! You can even take a stroller if you still have little ones!
Play a sport together – This gets the blood pumping and you can do something you both enjoy together that is healthy and fun!
Start changing your menu slowly – if this is all new to you – add at least one vegetable at each meal! Pick healthier snacks together and work as a family to not eat just because you’re bored! Then move on to totally healthier recipes and drink lots of water!
Buy toys that encourage exercise – if you have been looking to invest in something great to bond the family, consider a family pool or a trampoline (there are health risks with these of course, so keep that in mind) Weigh the pros and cons and ALWAYS have family rules about safety!
Bike ride or hike together – Again, this is just great exercise and great family time at once. Two great things you can feel good about!
Write down your goals – Maybe you dream of walking in a 5k together or running a marathon. Set the goal as a family and work on it together!
Families can make their dreams come true together if they work as a team. Encourage this in your family!! It may take a little while if you are not used to working together on things like this but don’t give up, stick to it! Your excitement will eventually wear off on them!
