We all want our children to learn wisdom when it comes to money. We want them to see the value in saving and giving and to be able to enjoy their purchases with pride because they saved for something great. I know sometimes if we have struggled with our own money issues we often feel like we can’t teach our children about money. Maybe we feel inadequate or we feel like we have made so many financial mistakes that they can’t possibly learn from us.
It doesn’t have to be that way. I don’t care what your situation is with your own money issues, you can help your kids do better for their future. Start with just being honest, I think our children can often learn more from our mistakes than our successes. Just be honest with them, let them know you haven’t always made the best choices or maybe hard times have found you but it doesn’t mean you want that for them.
Maybe you are a parent who has done a wonderful job with your money, your children can surely learn from your experiences. I was thrilled when Crown Ministries contacted me about sharing their videos on teaching kids about money. There is a wealth of information in this video. It is excellent!
The second video is short and gives you tip on helping your children save money.
Take a look and let me know what you think! These parents did an outstanding job in preparing their children for adulthood.
You find lessons on:
chore system with allowances
what to give at what ages
when to have your children start buying their own necessities
A binder system for your children’s money (I LOVED this idea, the best I have seen)
And much more!
