I just read this post on not letting anger destroy your family today and I have to say I struggle with this. I have prayed and continue to pray for help with an anger issue. I was raised in a yelling household. When my husband was meeting my family 17 years ago, we were talking later and just couldn’t believe how we all talked to each other. Everyday conversation sounded like we wanted to kill each other and nothing at all was wrong..in fact, it was a very happy time for all of us. The longer I lived away from my family and would go back to visit, the more I began to see what he meant. Now I don’t want that anger, but I see it in them more and more and they don’t understand. It has been very frustrating and emotional. Sometimes I think I have it together and one little thing sets me off. I always say I won’t let it happen again, and every time it does….it’s a vicious circle. Thank you for sharing this, I know now there is hope.
Amy,
My biggest words of advice are DON’T GIVE UP. Set some goals on this issue, and have a plan. Things such as when this happens I’m going to do this. Maybe it’s a time out or a bubble bath. When you fail apologize and get right back to working harder for the next time. It is easy to give up when you are struggling but when you blow your stack, think about how you can handle it different next time and work toward that. I know YOU CAN DO IT! I will be praying for you!
