I love when I can find apps that help me in day-to-day life. It’s even more of a win when it’s an app to help me with my reading.
Libby App Review
The Libby app is just the thing!
The very best feature about the app is there are thousands of ebooks and audiobooks, hand-selected by your library, available for reading. You can search through catalog guides, search by author, title, or, titles featured and curated lists.
This app has over 800k app store reviews, which is amazing in itself!

The things I love most!
It is FREE!
Yes, free. There are no hidden fees whatsoever. All you need is a library card from your library and what’s even better, if you have multiple libraries from your area, you can add them all! You do want to make sure your library is included. Over 90 percent of libraries in North America have OverDrive which Libby is through and Libby can be found in 78 countries worldwide.
You can find out if your library is included at overdrive.com
Read Across Devices
You can read your books on all of your devices and they sync across all of them.
If you download them when you have internet you will have them when you don’t.
Listen through Your Bluetooth
My husband and I enjoy listening to audiobooks so much and I love that I can listen right through my Bluetooth in my car, on my Echo, and anywhere I have my Bluetooth. We love listening while we clean and cook and in the summer at our pool.
Send to Kindle
This is one of my favorite things about the app. I can send most books right to my Kindle Paperwhite and read them just like I read the paper books I own.
(I believe it may be U.S. libraries only but if you are international check!)
Customize How you Read
You can adjust an ebook’s font size, book layout, and lighting. As you read, you can also add bookmarks, create notes and highlights. If you are listening to an audiobook you can adjust the speed to go faster or slower.
I love that when you place a hold on a book or when you are interested and search for a book(even before putting a hold on it) it gives you a calendar with a great idea of how long the wait will be. Sometimes it becomes available even sooner, For the most part, I do find the calendar to be very accurate on waiting times.
When you have a book that has a wait time you won’t be able to renew it when it’s due, however, you can put a hold on it again and I love the fact that they will allow you to get in line again a couple of days before it’s due. It gives you a little head start on the wait again.
Of course, if there is no wait there will be no need for the calendar.
You can sign up to get email notifications when your book is available. If you are not looking at the app every day this is so convenient.
This app is SO user-friendly, I feel like even if you are not super tech you can use this app easily. Searches are easy, it even keeps track of your searches so you don’t have to put them in again. You can see your history, you can see what format the book is in (example, ebook, or audio).
This feature is really great because I love to check out both if possible when getting a book. That way I can listen on the go and read the actual book when I’m not. Because I’m a very fast reader it helps with time also.
I’m sure most of you already have the Libby app but if not make sure you add it to your phone this minute. Your reading life will thank you!
